Thursday, August 7th 1969. Footage of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny attending the ninth independence day celebrations of Cote d'Ivoire in Man, a city in western part of the country. This was in keeping with the tradition of holding such celebrations in a different department. Thus parades had been held in Abidjan, Bouka, Korhogo, Daloa and Abengourou. The national government disbursed funds to the chose town to cover costs . In this case, Man built a hotel, put tarmac on its roads, improved its water supply and installed automatic telephones.
